Podcast: A solution to the high cost of textbooks?

Fred Beshears, the University of California Senior Strategist of Educational Technology Services talks about the high cost of textbooks for college and university students. He is proposing application of open source, creative commons solutions, based on the UK Open University [Link], as a partial solution to this serious student cost issue. This conversation occurred September 20, 2005 on the Berkeley campus.

Well it's indeed a good idea to use podcasting in such an informative way. I think this should be tried out and depending on the response received, it should be definitely well promoted. Publishing a podcast used to be a daunting task but with free services like RapidFeeds coming up... it's much more easier now. Even students can take advantage of this by using podcasting creatively. For example, students can publish their own podcast by interviewing one of the senior lecturer's in the university. I think podcasting is setting a trend on the web and it should be used constructively.
